Author / editor Julie E. Czerneda has been a
finalist for both the John W. Campbell (Best New Writer)
and Philip K. Dick Awards, twice on the preliminary ballot
for a Nebula, and has won three Prix Aurora Awards,
Canada’s Hugo, one for her standalone novel In the
Company of Others, one for short story, "Left
Foot on a Blind Man," published in Silicon
Dreams, edited by Martin H. Greenberg and Larry Segriff,
DAW Books, and most recently for editing Space Inc.
Julie has published several biology-based SF novels with DAW,
including ongoing series, the Trade Pact Universe
and the Web Shifters. Her work moved into
hardcover with her new series: Species Imperative:
Survival. Next will be Species Imperative: Migration,
(DAW, May 2005).
As editor, Julie’s Space Inc. explored
daily life off this planet and, with Dr. Isaac Szpindel, she
is co-editor of the alternate science history anthology
ReVisions, both from DAW. Julie is the editor of the
original Y/A SF anthology series based on science curriculum
topics, Tales from the Wonder Zone, winner of the
2002 Special Award for Science and Technology Education from
the Golden Duck Committee, as well as the new Realms of
Wonder Y/A fantasy anthology series linked to language
arts, both from Trifolium Books, an imprint of Fitzhenry
and Whiteside.
Author of the acclaimed teacher resource, No Limits:
Developing Scientific Literacy Using SF, Julie pursues
her passion for using science fiction in the classroom
through workshops for teachers. SF consultant to
Science News, she also coordinated the SF in the
Classroom Educator’s Program for the 61st World
Science Fiction Convention, Torcon3.
In her spare time, there’s wilderness camping and
rockets.
